Strength!

I was faced with the ultimate temptation today... and I passed! My boyfriend (Steve) and his family came to ESPN to see a SportsNation show and wanted to go out to dinner afterwards. Of course we went to my favorite pizza place where they make the most amazing pomegranate mojitos of all time, oh AND they have eggplant fries (just basically fried goodness oozing everywhere). So what did I do? I ordered a house salad with oil and vinegar dressing on the side. I ordered it with grilled shrimp (no butter) because, as my friend Tracy says: I didn't want to cheat, but I couldn't just order a house salad, so I opted for the lowest calorie, lowest fat item and shrimp is 80 calories and 1 gram of fat for 4 ounces. So while I didn't stick 100% to the diet, I found this to be a "one time only" cheat so I could succssfully eat dinner with my boyfriend's parents without looking like an anorexic child. Also, I only ate 3 shrimp, so even though I technically broke the diet, I am still really proud of myself. OH! OH! AND we went to Rita's afterwards and I didn't get anything. So yes, I am proud.

Didn't get a chance to work out tonight because Steve's family hung out for a bit after dinner and then I had some phone calls that I couldn't screen. So this counts as one of my days off. Hope everyone else is doing well! Good Night, Moon.

  1. So living in Milwaukee / Wisconsin is extra tough due to the amazing beer country I live in...Any suggestions for the upcoming weekend in terms of drinks that will help out the cause? Ive done so well that I am dreading losing all the hard work and progress on delicious beer...good job today

  3. Dan,

I hear ya on that sentiment. Tonight I have a happy hour lined up, tomorrow and Saturday are nights out on the town. The best part about this 9 day cleanse is that it only includes ONE weekend. I'd recommend drinking water- at least you'll have a drink in your hand. I know it's lame, but if you've proved to your friends you can "keep up with the best of 'em", then a few jokes for one weekend is all that'll happen. It'll be forgetten as soon as you're back to boozing with friends. Maybe you could try doing other activities that arent' centralized around boozing? :) Ash, any more suggestions?

  4. 2 things:

1- SportsNation is a show on ESPN hosted my Michelle Beadle and Colin Cowherd that typically runs from 4-5 on Monday through Friday on ESPN2. However, this week it's a little off because of tennis.

2- WATER! You can only drink water, skim milk, and herbal tea on this diet. I believe that you can make it one weekend without drinking booze. Offer to drive! Your friends will love you. If you're worried about peer pressure, just put on a ocnfident front. If they're not willing to support you in a diet or will make fun of you for it, then don't tell them. Just tell them you're not feeling well, but you'll drive everybody. You should be fine :) You can make it til Wednesday!
