Did I say 10 Pounds?

Yeesh, that "indulge yourself" weekend was no joke, huh? We can still figure out how long it takes to lose 10 pounds in a healthy way, but my unofficial goal (that I guess is now my official goal) was to get to 143. And without me being man enough to say my current weight outloud, you can see I've got a ways to go.

But at least we're finally doing something about it! So far today I woke up at 6:30 to get my quick 30 minutes of exercise in and ended up dicing peppers, tomatoes, and onions instead. So I'm still going to have to work out when I get home. I did have a delicious egg white omelet for breakfast though! Although, important lesson: 4 cups of egg whites a day is a LOT. I used a cup and a half for my omelet and it's like a hungry man flapjack... in other words, it's HUGE. So I went back and did a little research, turns out my source was wrong! You can have the whites of up to 4 eggs daily, not 4 cups of egg whites (big, big difference.) The whites of 4 eggs is approximately 3/4 of a cup for those at home who just buy the actual whites.... which is, yes, half of what I just ate for breakfast. Oops. Fantastic way to start the diet! In other news, exercise is 30 minutes, 5 times a week. So at least I just discovered two days off!

Well, I hope everybody else's weigh in/morning has gone better than mine so far. I have tons of fruit, 2 packets of oatmeal, tea, and some raisins to bring with me to work for lunch & snacking. Let me know how you're doing!

HAPPY DAY 1 :)

  1. So I cleared out the fridge on Friday night...Both sad and exciting...weighed in and it was about 20 over what I really want to be...my challenge is not eating food past a certain time of the day..I work in investment banking so I work long and weird hours so finding a healthy pattern of eating will be my key...Day one is ok although I have learned how food has become a part of my daily routine....Can't do your tofu although I love the water aspect and I bought a bike this weekend to get out and work out...Tonight is my first night of weight lifting so well see how I feel in the morning :)

  2. Last thought...its the one thing they dont teach you getting out of college...how to maintain healthy living in the 60 hour work week..there are a few bankers my age (27) that go and get a quick work out in during the day and I definitely am so tired most times that it seems like too much, but I am hoping this diet and weight loss can give me a bit more energy and that I can get back to my hockey playing weight of 230....

  3. Hey Dan! I'm actually not eating any tofu either... well, not yet. Maybe if I get desperate :) But I'm so glad you're giving this a shot! I used to work nights (the 5pm-2am shift) so I definitely have an idea of the weird hours and how hard it can be to get regular meals. What I've found is that bringing my 2 packets of oatmeal to work is something that is filling and very easy. I just heat it up and eat it at my desk! And if you need a sweetener, try cinnamon... it's a natural fat burner!
